Do I need more help?

Veterans or those still serving may find themselves overwhelmed with the complex layers of grief and trauma. Many recognize that they cannot do this alone and that help from family and friends isn’t enough. There are a number of options for you to explore.

Peer support groups

Peers can be a valuable connection after a devastating loss. Peer support grief and bereavement groups can help recognizing and validating your experience, providing you with a community of understanding and mutual-support as well as new knowledge. They are especially helpful for those who have served in the military or RCMP because of the unique nature of service and service experiences. Peer support groups can also be very helpful for the families of military and RCMP.

Professional counseling/therapy

There are many who seek and benefit from professional grief and trauma counselling or therapy. It is important to seek professional help from those who have been trained and skilled in working with grief, trauma or working with the military or RCMP.
